When this part is done, you should be able to double-check if your computer is able to recognize the adapter that you are working with or not. If the adapter is not recognized, then we need to make some changes in order to keep it organized and to make sure this is going to work in the manner that we would like. To check on this one, we are going to look and see if the wlan0, wlan1, and wlan2 will show up.

For the second step that we need to work with, we need to turn our wireless adapter on to promiscuous mode. This is going to make it so that we can look around and get on to some of the other modems and more that is going on around us. When the wireless adapter is set up in the right manner, you will find that it is much easier for us to go through and run a search for all of the connections that are nearby and available for us to use. In order to make sure that we are actually in the promiscuous mode, though, this is not the norm for the wireless adapter, so you have to change it over, you need to open up the command prompt for your computer and type in “airmn-ng start wlan0”.
